Baby Amanda came to see me at my New Market newborn studio at just 10 days old and was such a dream baby to photograph! Her easy-going nature allowed me to capture so many beautiful images! Amanda fit perfectly in my vintage pail that I found recently at a local antique shop! Baby Amanda was so content during her session, enabling me to pose her in many different positions and use multiple props. If you've visited my studio before, you know I have a slight prop addiction! I love to choose props that are a bit vintage in nature, which goes with my farmhouse style that I love so much. ![]()

Downtown Frederick. A crisp, autumn evening. An hour before sunset. All of the ingredients for an amazing senior portrait session. Add to the mix a beautiful, bright-eyed young lady who is off to a great start of her senior year. Senior year. How is it possible? It seems like yesterday that she was at freshman orientation, right? And for Mom and Dad, the realization that their firstborn is soon going off to college is all too real. I know the feeling well. My son, also my firstborn, is a senior this year and about to go off to college, too. That night in Downtown Frederick, I enjoy talking with Carolyn about her future plans. Her eyes light up as she tells me she wants to study engineering. I'm impressed with her candor and her strong work ethic that clearly has gotten her to this point. She's excited about all of the things most young senior girls are excited about early in the year. Homecoming. Finalizing her college choices and getting those applications in before the deadline that was coming up. Perhaps visiting a few more colleges while there's still time. Fast forward a few months and the excitement builds as graduation draws near. Graduation announcements have been mailed. Senior night is this week. Prom dress has been picked out. Flowers have been ordered. Those raw emotions that have been building up all year long are coming to a head. Soon it will be graduation night. Then college orientation. Who will my roommate be? Will they like me? Will I like them? Move in day. The transition from being the big "man on campus" as a high school senior (woman in this case) to a college freshman. Everything is new. Everyone is older and seems to have the college thing figured out. IT. IS. SCARY. Frightening even. But it's also the most wonderful time in your life. A time for self discovery. For new friendships to be made. Learning to take more risks. Learning to live on your own. Becoming your own person. This is the time you've been waiting for. And Carolyn, I have no doubt in my mind that you will ROCK this next chapter. Be true to yourself. Never be afraid to take a few risks. And ENJOY the ride. You've earned it! AuthorKathy White has been photographing seniors for the past three years and is an area she has worked hard to specialize in. Getting to know each of her seniors in order to capture their personalities in a natural way is very important to her. Creating an EXPERIENCE, not just capturing beautiful photographs, is what Kathy strives to do for each of her clients. "I want my clients to look back on their senior portrait session and remember how much fun we had. How much we laughed. I want it to be a positive experience. And I love hearing from former clients how the experience was just that. It's why I do what I do!" Beautiful Alaina is a soon to be graduate of Linganore High and was absolutely stunning at her senior session this past fall! Once you've scheduled your senior session with me, I will work with you to offer outfit suggestions and will send you my detailed senior planning guide with tips for how to prepare for the most successful senior portrait session. Even the littlest things can make a huge difference and oftentimes there are details many of my clients don't even think about that I cover in my guide. Professional hair and makeup is available for you, as well, for an additional fee. If you are wanting to book a fall session for your Class of 2021 senior, I recommend contacting me no later than June in order to secure your spot on my fall calendar. Those fill up very fast!
Working with this sweet graduate from Urbana in downtown Frederick this summer was so much fun! We enjoyed our time together strolling through the alleyways and garden areas, which are some of my favorite spots for photo sessions. The weather was perfect, and the lighting was gorgeous! Having done numerous shoots in this area, I've learned the best times of day for beautiful portrait lighting here, and was thrilled with the images we were able to get on this beautiful evening in July! This beautiful little garden is a great spot and is so pretty this time of year!
Sweet Chase came to see me and I'm thrilled to finally share his newborn images with you! He was a mere 5 days young when he came to my home studio and was a dream to work with--BEST SLEEPER EVER! Babies this young are often quite sleepy and go into lots of poses easily because they are still very flexible, and Chase was no exception. Though it's not always guaranteed that a baby will be sleepy and willing to pose for me, even at the young age of 5 - 10 days old. Newborns don't naturally sleep in a studio environment like they will at home, but I've learned some effective techniques to send even the most alert newborns off to dreamland! I also keep my studio a nice and toasty 80 degrees so baby is comfortable for when we do some poses of him/her unwrapped. There's nothing that compares to the feeling of holding your newborn babe. It's amazing to me how quickly they grow and before long, don't fit in your hands quite like this anymore. That's why I insist on photographing moms and dads with their newborns during the session! I love to offer a wide variety of poses to your image gallery, and allow plenty of time for these sessions in order to do just that! 3-4 hours is typical for a newborn session to allow for feedings, diaper changes, and soothing baby to sleep. Those tiny toes and fingers! So sweet!!! I want moms and dads to LOVE their images so I love to take my time during the session, patiently working with baby using the sleep techniques I've mastered in order to deliver an image gallery they'll be proud to display in their home! Check out my newborn section on my website to see the sweet little munchkins I've had the pleasure of working with! And, as always, thank you for visiting!
Rainy, River, and Ross celebrated their birthdays in June and I was honored to capture their sweet smiles in my home studio. River and Ross were the first set of newborn twins I had ever worked with and had the sweetest dispositions then--and even more so now! :) Their big sis, Rainy was very excited to have her portraits taken too and was a big helper during the session. Her genuine, sweet disposition shines through in every single portrait! As an elementary teacher by trade, I work very well with young children and they quickly warm up to me during the session, allowing me to get natural expressions and smiles. I want parents to see their child's personality shine through in every image so it is very important to me that I connect with their children during their time with me! Kids at this age are always ON THE MOVE and I especially love to capture them as they are crawling or sometimes walking toward me! These siblings share a sweet bond. Loved watching Rainy interact with her little sis and brother. Had to get one of the twins in one of the same crates I photographed them in as newborns! So much squish! River was also on the move, though not quite as fast as her twin brother! :) I send out a portrait questionnaire to get to know my clients and their children before they step into my studio. One of the things their mom and dad mentioned was their love for books so we HAD to get a few of them with some of their favorites! Those cute, chubby legs. LOVE!!! It's fun to individually frame and display their little one spelling out the number of their birthday! Contact me TODAY to book your child's portrait session! Capturing a little one's personality in a fun, relaxed, environment is what I do best. And I promise there will be lots of giggles and fun!
To schedule a session, kindly fill out the contact form here on my website and I'll be in touch soon! Cake smash sessions are all the rage nowadays. Parents want to capture their child's first experience eating cake, which can be quite amusing and definitely fun to capture! I've found that some babies dig right in, while others are more cautious and not as comfortable getting messy. It's cute to see how they will respond. Each baby is so different! I love working with babies and especially look forward to these sessions! I always start off by capturing images of them in mom's favorite outfit or two, then some of them in their "birthday suit" which is adorable, then we finish with the cake smash photos. I know they'll get really messy when they do this part so this is always the last set of photos we do! We work as long as baby is comfortable, capturing all of their cute expressions and their tiny features that change in the blink of an eye (tiny feet, messy little hands, eyelashes, etc). Sometimes parents do not prefer to do the cake smash, but still want to capture their little one's milestone birthday. I have a wide selection of natural looking backdrops and props to create beautiful first birthday images you will love. This little guy had the cutest personality and even posed for me! :) As you can tell, he had a lot of fun during his session! If you or someone you know has a baby that is turning one, be sure to send my information along so I can capture this special time! As always, thank you for visiting my site and taking a look at what we've been busy doing at Kathy White Photography. I look forward to hearing from you soon to plan YOUR child's birthday portraits! Hats off to cake smash sessions! I think Lincoln approves! ;)
I first met this sweet family a couple years ago for a family portrait session. A few months ago the mom contacted me that she was having her third child, a boy, and would love to have maternity and newborn photos done! I was so happy to hear that she wanted maternity photos done. Many moms opt not to, often telling me they don't feel very beautiful or don't like the way they look while pregnant. I think pregnant moms are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! Not to mention, I've learned a few posing and lighting techniques that will make my pregnant moms LOOK and FEEL beautiful! Here's a favorite from their maternity session in Union Bridge, MD--the light was absolutely gorgeous, just before sunset, which is the time I recommend for beautiful portraits! If you're on the fence about having maternity photos done, hopefully after reading this you'll reconsider! Isn't she stunning?!! A few short weeks after their maternity session Tara contacted me that her precious boy, Wyatt had been born. Here are a few of our favorites from this special newborn session. His little smile just melted my heart! Capturing moms and dads and siblings together with the new baby is very important to me as well. I do not charge extra for this, in fact, I strongly encourage we do them! My style has evolved to be more natural and organic so as to create images that will be timeless and not become "outdated" in a few years. I love the position of his little hands in this one below! Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and view these images of beautiful baby Wyatt. I hope you will consider me for your maternity and newborn session! If you know someone who is having a baby, please send my information their way! I am so excited to continue to grow this part of my business and have worked very hard to specialize in newborn photography. It brings me great joy to capture moments like this for young families and is what I am most passionate about!
I love working with high school seniors! They are so full of excitement about their futures and love to be in front of the camera-or if they don't, usually by the end of the photo session they do! :) It's so interesting to talk to them and find out their plans for after high school and college. It's important to me that I capture their personalities during the session so I now send a detailed questionnaire beforehand which helps me plan a portrait experience that is tailored to each senior, often incorporating their favorite sport or hobby. I've worked with seniors who've shared varied interests-from dirt bikes to sports to music and drama! I have two teenagers myself, one of which is a rising senior, so I'm very comfortable working with this age group and after only a few minutes into their photo session they relax and start to have fun! Often times they are surprised at how quickly the session goes and say they were surprised at how easy this was and how much they enjoyed it! That is what I like to hear as this is a special time for them and I want them to enjoy the entire experience! There are some beautiful spots in and around Frederick County where I have photographed seniors and know the best times of the day for gorgeous lighting. I am so excited to let my clients know that I am now offering gorgeous, fine art albums that I custom design and have printed at the professional lab I partner with. Your images are printed on high quality, 1/16" thick mount- board pages and open flat with a variety of covers from canvas to leather. This is a beautiful way to display your favorite images and is archival so it will last for generations. If you are interested in learning more about this service I provide, contact me for details! Here are the seniors I've had the pleasure of working with this past year from Linganore, Middletown, Oakdale, South Carroll, and Urbana High Schools... This family contacted me in early fall to have their family portraits taken. Our original plan was to take photos in an apple orchard because their son, Atticus just loves apples! And with two year olds...well, you quickly realize that whatever makes them happy makes EVERYONE happy! After searching around at a few local apple orchards, we decided to create our own! This way, we didn't have to deal with crowds of people and Atticus could play with the apples his mom brought to his heart's delight. :) I absolutely love this age. Two years olds are full of discovery and wonder. And yes, they are FAST. I mean, really fast! You have to have your camera ready at all times so you don't miss any of their adorable expressions--and quite honestly, you don't miss getting them in the frame altogether! I had fun following this sweet little guy around and just loved meeting his mom and dad. I enjoyed watching them interact with their precious son and loved capturing some super sweet moments they shared during our photo session. I look forward to seeing them again soon to take their older daughters' winter portraits. Maybe we'll be lucky and have snow pictures. That would be fun! Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed capturing them. :)
